The reception marks the closing of an exhibit featuring the photography and ephemera of the Black Panther Party and the Black Panther comic book.
Pictures and Progress: the Black Panther 1966-2016
The closing reception will be a public program on the power of the visual and the radical tradition. We are happy to host a panel with Jeremy Love comic book creator and graphic novelist (Bayou), and UC alum and comic book writer, and organizer Juliana Smith (Hafrocentric). This panel will be moderated by UCSC professor of Literature,
Vilashini Cooppan.
This exhibit has been curated by crystal am nelson (Visual Studies), Cathy Thomas (Literature), and Kiran Garcha (History), Ph.D. students at UC Santa Cruz.
