The 2023 Digital Scholarship Symposium showcases innovative undergraduate and graduate student digital research and creative activity. The event will take place on May 25th and will include a DSI showcase from 11am–12pm, a keynote talk from 1–1:30pm, a DSC showcase from 1:45–2:45pm, and brief student talks from 3–5pm.  We Invite you to come by any session as you are able and support the student work being presented.

DSI Showcase (11am–12pm at DSI in S&E Library)

The DSI Showcase provides an opportunity for students to showcase work they’ve completed using the technologies available for use in the DSI. These technologies include 3D printers, cricut makers, laser cutters, and holographic equipment.

Digital Project Showcase (1:45-2:45pm at DSC in McHenry Library)

The Digital Project Showcase is an opportunity for students to display their work and invite conversation. This portion of the day is similar to a poster session, with multiple projects setup around the DSC space and the ability for attendees to walk around and view each one; however, instead of printed posters, we work with presenters to provide the technology necessary to have their live digital project on display, including with relevant interactivity. Types of projects that we have showcased previously include: websites, podcasts, YouTube channels, VR experiences, video games, short films, and 3D reconstructions.

VizWall Presentations (3–5pm at the DSC in McHenry Library)

The VizWall portion of the symposium provides an opportunity for students to engage in a formal presentation of their projects. Students will have 10 minutes present in front of the VizWall, a 14'x4' screen. This type of presentation is similar to a conference presentation.
