In 2024, the University Library’s Center for Archival Research and Training celebrates its tenth year as an experiential learning program providing hands-on research and career development in archives for graduate students at UC Santa Cruz. We invite you to a special event celebrating 10 years of CART, happening on Tuesday October 1st from 3-6pm in McHenry Library.
Remarks at 3:15, Panel from 3:30-4:30.
Since it was founded in 2014 by former head of Special Collections & Archives Elisabeth Remak-Honnef, CART has worked with 40 graduate students to make archival collections more widely available through collection guides, curated exhibitions, and public programming. Many of the fellows have gone on to work in libraries, archives, and museums, or have found CART to be influential in their teaching and research careers.
The 10 year anniversary celebration will include a panel presentation from some of our former fellows, selections from archival collections made available through CART, time to interact with the current CART exhibition, and news on future projects. Refreshments and cake will be served.
We hope you can join us on October 1 at McHenry Library!
