On this the 35th anniversary of the Loma Prieta Earthquake, we revisit the Stories from the Epicenter podcast project, which explored the experience and memory of the earthquake in Santa Cruz County. In a panel conversation, we’ll discuss the earthquake’s effects on the county, what it was like to document that story, and what are the strengths of audio as a medium for recounting stories like this—whether local history, stories of disaster, or questions of memory.

Lead producer and Digital Scholarship Librarian Daniel Story joins award-winning radio producer and Stories contributor Nikki Silva along with other voices from the project. Come with your questions and ideas, or come just to listen. Registration is optional.

Listen to Stories from the Epicenter at library.ucsc.edu/storiesfromtheepicenter or wherever you get your podcasts.
