The Humanities Institute Presents the Tenth Annual Morton Marcus Poetry Reading - Featuring Gary Soto.

The University Library's Special Collections & Archives is proud to co-sponsor the Tenth Annual Morton Marcus Poetry Reading, an event honoring poet, teacher, and film critic Morton Marcus (1936–2009). Marcus, a nationally acclaimed poet, called Santa Cruz his home for more than fifty years. This annual poetry series continues Mort’s tradition of bringing acclaimed poets to Santa Cruz County, acknowledges the significant role poetry has played in our community’s history, and works to maintain poetry’s influence in our county’s culture.

About the Morton Marcus Poetry Archive:

Special Collections & Archives is honored to hold Morton Marcus's poetry archive, which includes personal papers, manuscripts, correspondence, sound recordings, lecture notes, printed poetry broadsides, books, and literary magazines, in its care. These materials together present an illuminating look at this poet’s place within an interconnected world of fellow writers, readers, students, and friends. All are welcome to visit Special Collections & Archives to further explore the Morton Marcus Poetry Archive.
