Join UCSC History professor Ben Breen, who will discuss how his evolving research interests have led him to look at sources close to home. Professor Breen has been at UCSC since 2017. His work includes the histories of the Portuguese, Spanish, and British empires, as well as the history of science, medicine, and magic. Selected archives from UCSC Special Collections & Archives will be available for browsing.

CART Commons programs are hosted by Special Collections & Archives, University Library, in collaboration with the Elisabeth Remak-Honnef Center for Archival Research and Training (CART).

CART Commons fosters a sense of community for UC Santa Cruz graduate students involved in archival research. Gatherings include hands-on archival explorations and informal presentations alongside opportunities to consider questions related to primary source research practices. Please visit the CART Commons website to learn more and join the CART Commons Mailing List.
