The Human Book is a Library speaker series for every UCSC student. We know that life after college can seem intimidating. As a response, we are bringing one alum to campus every quarter for our Human Book event.

The event will give current students a chance to listen to someone who used to face similar challenges when they were a student at UC Santa Cruz years ago. The alum will talk about how they surmounted these obstacles and ultimately built a successful career. There will also be ample time to ask questions. Bring your questions and join the conversation!

Our featured speaker, Stevenson alumna Stephanie Foo (‘08 modern literature) is a 2019-2020 Rosalynn Carter Mental Health Fellow

Land Acknowledgement

The land on which we gather is the unceded territory of the Awaswas-speaking Uypi Tribe. The Amah Mutsun Tribal Band, comprised of the descendants of indigenous people taken to missions Santa Cruz and San Juan Bautista during Spanish colonization of the Central Coast, is today working hard to restore traditional stewardship practices on these lands and heal from historical trauma.

The land acknowledgement used at UC Santa Cruz was developed in partnership with the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band Chairman and the Amah Mutsun Relearning Program at the UCSC Arboretum.
