Do you work with textual sources, large or small? Are they structured in spreadsheets or simply exist as open prose? Computational text analysis could provide a way for you to explore your sources. In this workshop we’ll talk about different approaches available to you—from topic modelling, to word/phrase correlations, to encoding text with XML. Join Digital Scholarship Librarians Daniel Story and Kristy Golubiewski-Davis for this workshop via Zoom (https://ucsc.zoom.us/meeting/register/v5wvfuitrDMruEUwsXChBPwztNrFZ94Z4A)—beginners welcome!
Note: This workshop has been extended from its original time to include time for discussion afterwards. As we transition to remote workshops, we are recognizing the ways in which we need to adapt. Some of our outreach material did not include this updated time, and we apologize for any miscommunication. We will ensure that the presentation section finishes by 2:30 for those who need to leave early and encourage people to do so if needed.
Parts of this workshop will be recorded to share with participants afterwards and will be hosted on the DSC website. You are welcome to ask questions throughout via voice or chat (only the voice portion will be recorded) and there will be an unrecorded opportunity for conversation and questions at the end of the presentation.
