A solid understanding of copyright as it applies to archival materials can be invaluable when it comes to navigating the process of research, writing, and publishing. At this program, UCSC’s Scholarly Communication Librarian Martha Stuit will be joined by Katie Fortney (of the California Digital Library) to talk about ways to add copyright knowledge to your researcher skill set. Come with your own questions or topics of concern to add to the discussion.

This is a virtual event: Please register at this link. We will email you the Zoom information the week of the event.

Martha Stuit is UC Santa Cruz’s Scholarly Communication Librarian, and she supports campus with publishing, copyright, and open access. Her previous work included guiding scholars with sharing and preserving their work at the University of Michigan's open access repository.

Katie Fortney is Copyright Policy & Education Officer for the California Digital Library. Her work includes providing members of the UC campuses with educational resources and help understanding copyright and scholarly publishing issues.

CART Commons programs are hosted by Special Collections & Archives, University Library, in collaboration with the Elisabeth Remak-Honnef Center for Archival Research and Training (CART).

CART Commons fosters a sense of community for UC Santa Cruz graduate students involved in archival research.
